My favorite Spring 2013 Resort collections

After having slacked off (quite a bit) on here, I have decided to give it another go.  School is back in full swing, and that means its time for classes, homework, and office hours!  This semester I am enrolled in MAT 559, which is a Fashion Forecasting class at the University of Kentucky! For our first project, we are researching up and coming designers.  After perusing style.com and checking out the Resort 2013 collections, I found two designers that I had previously never heard of and found their collection to be absolutely beautiful!

Camilla and Marc:

Camilla and Marc are a designer duo from Australia.  To me, their resort collection runs the gamut in colors, silhouttes, and fabrics.  It spans very colorful, bright pieces to very dark, space age type pieces.  What I like is that this collection is very reminiscent of vintage style.  I admire the use of different silhouettes, and their ability to capture the spirit of several different time periods.  Check them out on http://www.style.com/fashionshows/complete/2013RST-CAMMARC?page=2 to see for yourself!

Its a mod, mod world

This isn't the best photo of me, however, the shirt is incredible.  I bought it at Street Scene.    The material remains a mystery to me, since the garment was purchased second hand and the tag was cut out.  But I LOVE the prints.  It makes me feel like I'm truly living in the era of the 60's and 70's.  As I always say, I was born into the wrong decade.  Note: the Hendrix poster and tie-dye tapestry in the background! Fashion and music will NEVER be the same as it was back then, and I envy the baby-boomers for getting to experience it!

Black and Yellow

This jacket is my favorite new addition to my wardrobe!  The combination of yellow, black, and white reminds me so much of home. I passed it in Street Scene, and it was screaming my name.  It has a 60's feel to it, but is fashionable to wear every day!

My Halloween costume was a bit different this year.  Instead of going slutty like most girls my age do year after year, I decided  that I wanted to do something a bit different.  I found this gorgeous sailor dress at Street Scene in Lexington for $5.00!  It is a vintage piece from(I'm guessing) the 80's.  When I bought it it had shoulder pads in it, so I cut them out.  I believe this piece was inspired from 20's fashion, which gave it the coolest vintage feel.  I will wear this dress as part of my regular wardrone.  But for now, it is a Halloween costume.  Call me captain!

Rainy days go away.....

I came to the realization yesterday that I do not own rain boots.  Not a single pair.  It wasn't until the monsoon we experienced yesterday that I thought about this.  Typical me.  I ordered the cutest rain boots off of Amazon, and will be receiving them tomorrow!

I figure that these will help brighten my day when I put them on, on these sometimes endless rainy days we get here.   The brand is called Sloggers.  Tell me what you think!

Ready.Set.Vintage!

From the first time I set foot in Street Scene, a local vintage clothing and antique shop, I fell in love.  I have always been fashion obsessed.  After all, whats not to love about the fast paced world in which we live?  However, theres just something about putting on that 1960's vintage jacket that takes you back in time.  Although I did not live through that time period, it inspires me.  So much so, that I started this blog.  A few days ago, I ordered a guide to Vintage Shopping in the hopes that it will help me to inspire you too!
